Case Study Breakdown
Concept ::
Co-owners Todd Berger and Lucian Föhr of Berger & Föhr approached us with an innovative idea for their client, Salomon Global. They sought a fresh, unconventional way to showcase Salomon’s new trail running gear—something entirely different from traditional campaigns. Through our collaboration, we developed a unique approach: constructing custom sets to display and suspend the product line, capturing the images in-camera rather than relying on post-production.

Behind the Scenes
Expectations:
From my first call with Todd and Lucian in early November, I knew they were looking for a traditional approach to this shoot—and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. This mindset pushed me to capture each image in a single frame, carefully balancing composition to showcase the product lines and copy in the most visually compelling way.
To execute this vision, I assembled a team that I knew would bring the right attitude and expertise. Emily Park, a meticulous stylist, worked patiently to perfect every detail, whether pinning elements down or suspending them. Jon Rose, an outstanding digital technician, kept everything organized and ensured each file made sense, embracing the challenge of capturing final images in-camera rather than relying solely on post-production.
My go-to first assistant, Bobby Baird, anticipated every need, keeping the setup seamless and maintaining a great attitude throughout. And Pete DeLong, an exceptional retoucher and post-production wizard, once again amazed me with his talent, quick turnaround, and unwavering calm.
Together, we made the most of our two-day shoot to deliver four carefully crafted images, staying true to the traditional approach we set out to achieve.
Final Deliverables
By mid-December, we were ready to start the project. The schedule was super tight, and we had to shoot and deliver the final images between Christmas and New Year’s. As we finished an image in the studio, those hi-res files were uploaded to Pete for post work to begin while we kept shooting. We finished the shoot, and Pete, myself, Todd, Lucian, the client all worked in the late hours to share input on the images. We wrapped everything up by the following evening, around midnight.
Exhausted, Pete delivered all the final files to a very happy Salomon team. I haven’t had such an extensive shoot since the film days—waiting on the lab for snip tests—but it was all worth the effort from everyone. I couldn’t have done this without every single person involved.
