You could probably guess how excited I was to land my first commercial gig with Maxim magazine back in 2002. Aside from its obvious allure, Maxim was doing some really cool still life features at the time. This photo is one we did for L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani. I pitched this crazy idea to then editor Rebecca Horn, who was on board and trusted me to pull it off. We sourced a taxidermy wolf and shot it separately from the shoe, and then composited the images together. I had such an incredible time working with everyone at Maxim and sister magazines of Dennis Publishing. Big shout out to everyone from the Dennis era… you know who you are!
