I was always mesmerized by light trails in images—the way a camera could capture something that the eye could not—and was waiting for the right shoot to play around with this. When a fashion editor from Las Vegas magazine showed me this Louis Vuitton bag, I knew exactly what to do with it. The bold font made me think of graffiti and I wanted to use light trails to make “graffiti” in the air. For this shot, we sourced LED flashlights and placed colored gels over them. I had 2 assistants waving the lights around a dark set while I experimented with long camera exposures. All of this happened in camera too, which is even cooler. I love when I’m able to keep it real and create stunning effects without Photoshop.
