Andrei Duman’s Organogenesis: Building Blocks of Life

When you think of LEGO® toys, you might reminisce on building tall colorful towers as a child, or you might still use LEGO® toys to build elaborate scenes from your favorite movies. The idea that a simple block can become large structures is something that fascinates users of all ages. Photographer and Director Andrei Duman, who is always curious to learn more about how the world works and looks at things from every angle, found LEGO® toys in an effort to actualize a creative idea he’s had for years.

The genesis of this project is deeply personal, inspired by a family member’s battle with dementia. Andrei’s initial concept was to visually depict the idea of organs deteriorating. If you picture apples progressing from ripe to rotten, symbolizing the consequences of destructive behaviors on the body’s systems. But as his idea evolved, he decided not to represent decay, but rather how the organs are built in our body in a constructive way, which led him to the use of LEGO® bricks. After some research, he found renowned LEGO® artist Nathan Sawaya, known for his awe-inspiring creations that challenge the boundaries of brick-based artistry.

Andrei Duman’s Art of Challenging Perception Through X-Ray Photography

A passion for reshaping perceptions is at the heart of all of Andrei Duman’s projects. His project, “X-ray”, began with a simple curiosity about what different mechanisms lay inside objects we see every day. Noting there is no way to know what is inside a household object without taking it apart, this project taps into Andrei’s explorative personality. Beginning four years ago, it took Andrei a full year to find a place that would actually allow him to use their machines. After partnering with a private practice, Andrei first started X-raying everyday household objects; Roombas, shoes, and computers. Through this project, he began to see a story of evolution unfold. Photographing Macbooks and iPhones from the original model to the most current, he is able to retrace and document the march of technology through time.

Lupine Hammack

“It is my belief that to truly see what is possible; one must first create the kinds of environments where the crazy things can happen, a habitat to produce alchemy — where passion, talent, and experience can blend, and magically transform to make something stronger and better. This is how I approach my photography.” ~ Lupine Hammack

Lupine Hammack’s In Camera Skills Create a Striking Illusion for Progressive Insurance

What has a bunch of locations, five motorcycles, two dogs, a bundle of balloons and one photographer standing in the middle of a busy intersection? As obvious as this riddle might seem, we’ll give you the answer; Lupine Hammack’s project with Progressive Insurance and Arnold Worldwide.

The ability to be dynamic is a quality that agencies and brands are always looking for in a photographer. Lupine’s vision through alchemy ensures that he can take any idiosyncratic shoot component and convert it to the hero aspect of the final visual. For his project with Progressive, the client wanted background plates that allude to the viewer being in motion paired with still-life images of motorcycles. While initially considering two photographers to take these two very different shoots on, Lupine’s experience, enterprising ideas and communication skills assured them that he and his team could cohesively solve the creative puzzle.

“I’ve always loved the idea of balance, and I believe that harmony can come from combining imagination with a discerning perspective. Knowing there is always a sweet spot between divergent and convergent thinking, achieving balance in the work I create first requires freedom through experimentation and play.

Ultimately for me, achieving harmony in storytelling means recognizing and embracing how art, humor and nature have influenced my work. I look to my clients for collaboration and together we balance creativity and strategy to artfully communicate a desired narrative. Together we complete the puzzle.”  ~ Zachary Scott
