Back in the 1970s and 80s, my older brothers and I all attended at various points the Catholic school attached to our parish church—Our Lady of the Lake in Mount Arlington, NJ. After the school closed, Fr. O’Connor gave me the keys and allowed me to go inside and photograph the school for this large format 4×5 project. It was a personal project that began out of nostalgia and then became even more meaningful after Fr. O’Connor eventually married my wife and I, and then passed away not long after baptizing our last daughter. The man had an incredible sense of humor, and never forced religion on anyone. He always said he would just be there for people when they needed him.
