Working in tandem, Ian and Erick create imagery that spans surf, action sport, underwater, and portrait photography. Their collaborative practice is defined by powerful, film-based work that evokes raw emotion and natural beauty — a sensibility shaped, in part, by the intuitive shorthand of working as twins. Together they move fluidly between disciplines, from the physicality of action and sport to the stillness of portraiture, capturing unguarded moments with a consistent tactile authenticity rooted in their commitment to film.
For this campaign, Ian and Erick bring that shared vision to a series shot on the beach, pairing candid athletic movement with intimate close-up portraiture — sand, salt, and skin rendered with the same raw, natural sensibility that defines their broader body of work. Their continued push into new creative territory, worldwide, has established them as a distinctive voice in contemporary image-making, working as a true creative duo rather than two solo practitioners.
atedge: Can you share details about your cover image with us?
Ian: “There’s a kind of communication between twins that doesn’t need words — Erick and I have always had that. So when we’re shooting subjects who share that same closeness, we recognize it instantly. We’re not staging that connection, we’re just pointing the camera at something we already understand.”
atedge: Can you talk more about your process working together? Do you divide and conquer?
Ian: “Divide and conquer” can actually be problematic for a stills campaign. We really see ourselves as co-creators. If there’s a time constraint and we both have our own cameras, we can absolutely divide and conquer and cover the shot list together. We’ll often tag-team BTS, assisting, and video assets as well. But ultimately, we’re working together toward the same creative vision.
Erick: It also depends on who spoke with the client first. Sometimes, if I get the job and it revolves around something like water, I’ll take the lead on the shoot. But if Ian gets the call, he may take the lead. There’s a lot of flexibility between us.
Ian: We swap roles quite a bit on set. Again, we’ll divide and conquer when there’s a time constraint, but we’re very conscious of not having too many cooks in the kitchen. If we’re both trying to direct the same thing at the same time, it can drive the talent crazy. Knowing when to take the lead and when to support each other is a big part of how we work.
Ian and Erick recently launched their own individual websites, giving each of them a distinct space to showcase their personal creative perspectives.
Ian Michel Regnard focuses on sexy, elevated lifestyle work, while Erick Bruno Regnard leans into sports, fitness, and portrait stories. While their individual sites highlight those different strengths, their ability to come together as co-creators is what makes the partnership particularly dynamic.
