I never aspired to shoot jewelry. I was too intimidated. It’s funny now, because that’s about 50% of what I do! I would see Van Cleef ads, or Cartier or David Yurman, and think about all of the precision that went into shooting them; how thoughtful and deliberate they were. But this is what eventually drew me in as my technical skills developed. How do I see all of the facets… How do I light those minute details while creating an entirely different effect in the background? All tricks of the trade!
