The LOOK3 Festival, now in its third year, transforms the historic pedestrian center of downtown Charlottesville, Virginia into a public arts experience. A non-profit organization, the festival “celebrates the vision of extraordinary photographers, ignites conversations about critical issues, and fosters the next generation of artists.”
One of the extraordinary artists they’re celebrating this year includes AtEdge photographer Walter Iooss.
“Iooss’ work is characterized by a dynamic perspective and a notable reverence for light. From his multi-year project on Olympic athletes up to and during the 1984 games to his iconic portraiture of athletes such as Michael Jordan to his 300-plus covers for Sports Illustrated, Iooss’ work is renowned worldwide. His celebrated publications include Hoops: Four Decades of the Pro Game (2005), Classic Baseball: The Photographs of Walter Iooss, Jr. (2003), Walter Iooss: A Lifetime Shooting Sports & Beauty (1999).” – LOOK3 Festival
Walter will be exhibiting The Sporting Life at The Haven at First & Market in Charlottesville from June 5th – 30th.
Additionally, Walter will be conducting an artist’s talk with Sports Illustrated magazine’s director of photography, Steve Fine. The talk will take place Friday, June 12th at 4:00pm at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville.
