Southern California Special Olympics

This weekend was the Fall Games of the Southern California Special Olympics. Started by Eunice Kennedy Shriver in 1963, it was organized into the first Special Olympic Games in 1968. Changing lives through the power of sport, it’s truly inspiring to witness the determination, courage, camaraderie and joy expressed by the athletes.  The Special Olympics World Games will be coming back to the United States in Summer 2015 – Los Angeles is the host city and will draw 7,000 athletes from 170 countries for a week of competition with 500,000 spectators.
