Location: Pacific Ocean
Subject: Crab Boat – the Sandra Dee
Length Of Shoot: 1 day
Early this year, we photographed the Sandra Dee, a San Francisco based commercial crab boat. It was a beautiful, warm (what?) winter day on the water. John, captain of the Amigo – another commercial fishing boat, had invited Dwight along on a location scout / crab fishing day a few weeks prior to our shoot. Armed with everything we could find in the drugstore seasickness aisle, we loaded our waterproofed gear onto the deck of the Amigo. We went out under the Golden Gate Bridge and followed the Sandra Dee a few miles north along the coast in search of glassy water for a unique look at crab fishing under ideal conditions. Dwight enjoyed hanging and shooting from the mast and did not fall once (no one got seasick either).
