London Calling

No we are not referring to The Clash’s 1970’s hit but rather to the Summer Olympic’s starting today.  But even before tonight’s big bash, it seems like the United Kingdom and, particularly, England herself is singing a summery siren song; we are as helpless as the sailors of Greek mythology, and can hardly help ourselves from following their tune. The sound may be London, but the journey here at RR&Co. is paved by beautiful photography, courtesy of Ann Cutting.  We —along with a young American sailor —have been lured towards the “Isles of Wonder.” Let’s embark on his trip towards London, and see where it will take us.

Setting sail with our personal Captain America…

Our first stop in England is a sweet little bridge above the river that our fearless young captain took towards the mainland! I hope no one tries to check our passports…

After docking the boat, we’ve taken a stop at one of England’s countless castle gardens. Even in the countryside, we hear London’s call!

And finally…

We’ve arrived! Ann could’ve sworn the Eye winked at us as we passed by.

And here we are, at the center of all things, this summer.  Here’s Ann’s shot of “Big Ben,” formally known as the London Tower —although, since her Diamond Jubilee, it is slated to officially change its name to “Elizabeth Tower.”  We’ve finally picked up the phone, and answered the countless calls: we’re here, London.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our journey through England —now relax and enjoy the Opening Ceremony!
