Photoville: where is it? WHAT is it? Made of thirty shipping containers, each housing a mini-exhibition —located at Pier 3 Uplands, at the Brooklyn Bridge Park in NYC, Photoville 2012 is “a veritable village of freight containers” on exhibit starting this Thursday, June 22nd, until July 1st. Photoville is an opportunity for emerging photographers to showcase their art; it isn’t only a chance to see and be seen, though —the photo-fest will be complemented by workshops, a “camera greenhouse” (find out what that is: #mce_temp_url#) nightly video projections, and delicious food trucks encircling a summertime beer garden! Our resident tastemaker and leader of the Company —Renee Rhyner herself —picked her favorite three containers from the previews:
“Let’s Face It,” work from the Dutch Fotofestival Naarden (#mce_temp_url#)
“The Curator,” curated by PDN (Photo District News) (#mce_temp_url#)
“Underage: work by young photographers,” aptly featured by Feature Shoot (#mce_temp_url#) You can preview the other 30 exhibits at http://photovillenyc.org/containers.html or, if you’re lucky enough to be in the area, just go and see! IT’S A FREE EVENT that any New Yorker really must attend.
