Happiness

Last year, University of California Office of the President sent me to UC Berkeley’s graduation to hunt for one image for upcoming campaign. Because of this specific assignment, I got to spend hours among thousands of happy people. I got home having a nervous break down: I cried because I’ve never experienced anything like this and I have two high ed degrees. There were thousands of hysterically happy people in one spot…. it was mind blowing…

UC Berkeley is a very special university….

teaching

I just did six lectures at Academy of Art University SF for grad and undergrad photo students and it made me realize that I actually enjoy teaching but I also learned how hard it is to be a teacher. Off topic: I believe teaching should be the highest paid job in the US!

So, I started practicing my teaching skills on my eight year old son, talking about portraiture, moments and just how much fun it is to capture feelings.

He took some pictures of me. Together we selected the strongest images, talked about what they mean to me and him, and he asked me to make them bw. I was blown away that my son liked smiling images the most. He also made me look so good. I love these simple pictures and I love him:
