2FAKE CGI simulates realistic bubbles! Â Smooth particles in lively animation float thru the air in imaginary spaces, in chaotic motion, that enchants and conveys meaning in world of metaphors. Â Ultimately, bubbles are bodies of air and water. 2FAKE adds texture for bubbles to become alive in computer-generated world: a balloon, the hybrid microscopic view of bacteria, a planet, even a bubble machine! Discover that bubbles are indispensable to visual realm of CGI animation. Researchers are challenged because “physics-based fluid simulation and animation, powered by computational fluid dynamics” is tricky! Â 2FAKE CGI makes it effortless, creating a natural look that harmonizes with each environment. Â Agree?
ROBERT TARDIO makes it look easy. Â Shooting highly reflective objects – especially products with black type that is prominently featured – this requires masterful photography. Â Total control of light while embracing graphics, Â this is Robert’s specialty. Â So he took on the challenge of shooting Estee Lauder jars and bottles, knowing he could use only minimal retouching to preserve the natural beauty of this packaging.
ALTER SFX captures fire in camera, adding CGI technology, using their talent and ability, developing art that advertising agencies love. Art Producers have special needs and rely on us to offer up a vast array of solutions. Creatives Directors and Art Directors develop dramatic concepts and rely on ALTER to provide creative partnership, effective process and exquisite results.
Behind the scenes on every photo shoot is a group of people working together. Â Best days are total harmony! Creative chaos, impeccable organization. Months of work leads up to each production: Agency brainstorming, client pitches, revisions on ideas, biding the job, re-bidding the job, endless negotiations, and finally the client/agency approval to move! Now our real work begins. Â Gathering our essential team starts with our exceptional photographer, Justin L’Heureux. Talent, temperament, knowledge, ability, that’s all we ask. Â Justin leads the shoot, interpreting the concept, communicating the idea, creating exquisite lighting while directing talent in a convivial atmosphere. Â He’s a rockstar! Â Next is our fabulous stylist Lori Upbin… everyone loves Lori! She anticipates Art Director’s needs and ideas before they even ask. The glue that holds it together is our producer. Â On this shoot we worked with amazing Jake Hakanson, Hakanson Productions, who organized casting (with incredible Donna Grossman), books our studio, brings in catering ( love delicious breakfast and lunch to keep everyone happy and well-nourished) and finally, creates the essential and invaluable production book that gives meaning to the word “flow”. Â When you think about the amount of prep work, and realize that there’s only one day to shoot, it’s an unforgettable experience. A fleeting moment of intense focus (that we all love). Â We walk away wanting to do this every day of your life. Â I’m involved from the beginning, working closely with my all-important Art Producer every step of the way. Â Every agent/rep does it differently. Â I show up as often as I can. There’s always something to learn. There’s always someone to thank! (Especially our agency and client, and every member of the our production team). Â There’s even a picture to grab while not sharing much or giving away any secrets. Â Gotta say, can’t wait to do it all again! Â
2FAKE Virtual Photography launched in 2007 by Brooklyn-based Swiss-born Nicolas Rieben dedicated CGI artist. Creating a series of virtual objects ranging from photo-realistic to abstract, the studio pursued the world of print advertising.  Combining the malleability of illustration and visual quality of photography, 2FAKE offered the industry a new level of flexibility in image creation and manipulation. 2FAKE returns to mechanical materials time and again, to create CG animation for on-screen commercials, internet, digital media and beyond… now VR.  Images can be animation or GIFs for integrated production.
Once asked “What is real”?… 2FAKE responded that “ultimately reality is a fluctuating model, shifting, based on perception from a specific point of reference.” Â The creative interpretation, the metaphor, takes the concept one step further. Â This is what we encounter every day in commercial ad work. Â CGI interpretatively stages one reality, but in a completely controlled environment, with the ability to manipulate every detail. In CGI, the “camera” can be placed in any art directed location, even one that would be physically unimaginable with a real camera. Â As 2FAKE customizes reality, our team can recreate an object exactly to specific parameters and create a hybrid, not constrained by boundaries that limit other forms.
Introducing the new series, titled ‘Dislocation’ where 2FAKE explores surreal objects based on mechanical parts with organic elements of wind, water, and smoke to punctuate the art. Â In 2FAKE’s never-ending exploration into form and function, it brings insight into the nature of encounter, and ultimately exhilaration. 2FAKE works with singular focus in a world of digital potentiality. Â Nicolas Rieben’s background as a sculptor of large metal and wood forms in the physical world, is where he developed the ability to see light and form, distinctions that create the attraction to his work in virtual CGI.
With vast imagination of CGI artist Nicolas Reiben, 2FAKE explores a limitless realm of possibilities. Using an array of fonts, texture and shader, adding highlights and shadow, this unique subject matter in his photo-real illustrative style, 2FAKE CGI options are endless. Â Results…. awesome!
Justin L’Heureux says LifeProof is a dream brand to work with. Â Working with real athletes, fresh ideas, and a great Art Director Julian Kelly totally makes it. Â Content is always rotating. Fun shooting while cruising his own San Diego, the city, beaches, surrounding canyons. An amazing producer Verity Hoskins adds to this very cool production. Pictures tell a story about Justin’s eye … and he’s having a good time!
ROBERT TARDIO never stops exploring. Â With talented stylist Livia Cetta, a new fragrance series is born with flowering botanicals. Â As this series progresses, we watch passion n’ still life photography align with taste n’ style for a new collection that makes you want to lean in an’ take a whiff…… Much more to come!
Q: Who do you want to take on freezin’ adventure shoot?  A: Justin L’Heureux  Why? Hell, why not!

Barbra Walz photographed Ralph Lauren and his young family in 1977 for her book ‘The Fashion Makers’. Inspired by talented young designers, Barbra filled her book with exceptional pictures of personal moments with her style and grace of these rising stars like Ralph, Elsa Peretti, Oscar de la Rnenta, Giorgia Sant’Angelo, Adolfo, Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass, Stephen Burrows, Perry Ellis, Rudi Gernreich, Halston, Edith Head, Charles James, to name a few. This young, talented photographer, our own beloved Barbra, left us all too young in 1990, but her pictures from our archives live on, and have powerful impact even today. Polo Ralph Lauren’s Father’s Day instagram campaign celebrates love, longevity and the ultimate bond that Ralph shares with his children, David and Andrew in Amagansett as photographed by Barbra…. today we pay tribute.
