Gregg roamed with the apes on his latest assignment for IEEE Spectrum. He spent time with Kanzi and Teco, two bonobo apes from the Domincan Republic of Congo. Researchers have been working with Kanzi and Teco, using the new Motorola Xoom tablet to test the species ability to communicate with humans, deciphering whether they’re just mimicking us or actually have the capacity to learn the human language. Seems that the primates have a greater fluency with our language than we might have thought.
