2 for The New Yorker
It was fun to get two back-to-back shoots for The New Yorker recently, I could pretend that I was on staff for just a minute.
Top Three Images: This isnât the set-up that was run but I think that itâs super fun so Iâm showing it here. We took Modern Farmer founder Ann Marie Gardner to Kinderhook Farm in Valatie, NY and shot her there with their sheep. Kinderhook is a working farm that has a renovated barn that one can rent out – in fact my wife and I had a great stay there with our daughter two summers ago. These behind-the-scenes shot were taken by my intern Megan Costello.
Fourth Image & Video: The second New Yorker shoot was a week later in San Francisco, featuring 10X, an agency that reps top people in the tech field. The Director of Photography Whitney Johnson suggested that I shoot them like a rock band in the more urban part of the city and that lead to this shot. The video was shot by Barbra Walker.
